Reclaiming the streets of New York City.

Transportation Alternatives is reclaiming New York City’s streets from the automobile and advocating for better bicycling, walking, and public transit for all New Yorkers.

Ideo.org’s our goal is to improve lives through design. They design for impact, building partnerships with organizations that know how to bring innovative solutions to life, and continuing to evolve the products, services, and experiences they design even after they’re out in the world.

For nearly 50 years, Transportation Alternatives has led the movement for safe, equitable streets in New York City. They believe that New York City’s streets belong to the people of New York City, and they work with New Yorkers in every borough to build a future that rises to the needs of their communities.

Transportation Alternatives uses a combination of neighborhood-level grassroots organizing and city-wide advocacy to push for changes in public policy, street design, enforcement, and resource allocation that transform New York City’s streets for the better.
